Blood diseases affecting children can have very serious consequences. Whether kids need blood transfusions, stem cell transplants, or any other blood related treatments, the Canadian Blood Services are the only organization in Canada helping provide those needs. Cancers such as Leukemia and other diseases like Thalassemia are some of the leading life-threatening blood diseases affecting children. The Canadian Blood Service helps provide treatment sources for all children battling such illnesses.

BC CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

BC Children's Hospital is the only hospital in the province specialized for looking after the children of British Columbia for a wide range of illnesses and injuries. With top doctors, researchers, and other health professionals from the country, BC Children's Hospital has always remained prominent for treating sick kids throughout the world.

CHILDHOOD CANCER CANADA

Childhood Cancer Canada not only funds educational programs and family support for children battling cancer and their loved ones, but it also funds life-saving pediatric research. With a shortage of research on treatment options for childhood cancers, Childhood Cancer Canada is one of the leading institutes funding for more research focused on children alone.

"We fund a national research organization made up of the leading pediatric oncologists in the country. With the support of funding from Childhood Cancer Canada, the childhood cancer research community has made significant advances in just the last ten years as evidenced by a 25% decrease in childhood cancer mortality."

CANADIAN ORGANIZATION FOR RARE DISORDERS

Rare diseases are really not that "rare" when it comes to children.​ With 1 in 3 patients at BC Children's Hospital affected with rare diseases, they are actually one of the most prominent type of diseases affecting children. CORD plays a vital role in funding top researchers throughout Canada to specifically understand and find treatment options for children.

"CORD provides a strong common voice to advocate for health policy and a healthcare system that works for those with rare disorders. CORD works with governments, researchers, clinicians and industry to promote research, diagnosis, treatment and services for all rare disorders in Canada."
